Capacity Building Working Group discussed the topic of CIGS (Citizen Initiatives in Global Solidarity) capacity building and the European elections

On 7th of March the Capacity Building Working group discussed the upcoming European elections and what direct and indirect implications they could have for CIGS in Europe. We heard country reports from the Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Belgium/Flanders, Finland, and Poland and discussed the challenges right-wing populist parties might cause in future or have caused already and who we can better capacitate the CIGS we work with to counter this and show the importance of global solidarity in these uncertain times. Some inspirational technical and capacity building tools were presented, but also the importance of collaboration in these times stressed, including the need to seek for good positive message and storytelling. We agreed to take up the discussion again after the European election and meet on 12th September again, focusing on the role of leadership and leadership training as a tool to strengthen CIGS for new challenges.
